The most popular fashion event, the Met Gala (formally known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit), took place on Monday evening. The event, held at New York City’s esteemed Metropolitan Museum of Art, brought together Hollywood’s A-list celebrities and influences as they showed off their best looks.

The event is held each year on the first Monday in May to raise money for the museum’s Costume Institute. This year’s event was held by Anna Wintour (editor-in-chief of Vouge), Rihanna (A-list singer and upcoming star of Ocean’s 8, centered around a MET heist), Dontaella Versace (iconic designer), and Amal Clooney (human rights lawyer and wife of George Clooney.

Each year the event follows a certain theme and attendees match it with their fashion. This year the theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” Even though it was expected to raise controversy celebs did not shy away from the theme of the exhibition.

A ticket to attend this prestigious event starts at $30,000 with tables going for $275,000, so one can only imagine that the fashion would be just as expensive.

Some celebs hit the nail on the head with the theme while others went for more traditional red carpet looks. Check out all of the fashion hits and misses below:
