Pigs never may never fly, but pigs can paint!

Meet a pig that was rescued from a slaughterhouse at just weeks old and is wowing the world with her “abstract” artwork and was named Pigcasso respectively.

Pigcasso was rescued by South African animal rights activist, Joanne Lefson. Lefson first spotted out Pigasso’s artistic abilities when she left out some paint and brushes in her pen, just seeing what the pig could do. Joanne couldn’t believe her eyes! Pigcasso naturally began to paint this oddly beautiful paintings.

Pigasso’s paintings cost a range from 230 dollars to a staggering 2 thousand dollars! All of the profits go to a good cause, all of the money goes to the South African Animal Sanctuary. Pigasso’s art gallery sales have help raised thousands of dollars.

Lefson wanted to bring awareness for pigs and animals rights, she hopes to “help consumers make the connection between what they eat and the life of an amazing individual, and hopefully inspire them to make kinder more compassionate choices at the supermarket”

Joanne is also campaigning to outlaw the law that has all pregnant pigs have to be kept in solitary cells, and instead they will be kept in group pens. She believes that this law is outdated and unhealthy for these pregnant pigs.

Joanne and her fellow sanctuary workers hope Pigcasso’s work will go all around the world and to bring attention to animals rights.
