March 14th, 2018 was a devastating day for not only the scientific community, but for the entire world. World- renowned physicist Steven Hawking passed away in his home in Cambridge, England at the age of 76. Hawking is considered one of the most well- known scientists of his time, being best known for his advancements on black holes, and his multi-million selling book, A Brief History in Time.

At age 21, Hawking was diagnosed with ALS, causing him to need a wheelchair and voice synthesizer for the later years of his life. Hawking’s three children, Tim, Robert and Lucy, stated  “We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today. He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years. His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world. He once said: ‘It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.’ We will miss him for ever.”

In 2009, in the midst of his earth-shattering discoveries in regard to black holes and worm holes, Hawking wanted to prove that time travel does indeed exist, and he wanted to make sure that the people of the future knew that he was the reason. To successfully execute this seemingly impossible task, he decided to utilize his esteemed respect and professionalism… by throwing a massive party.

Hawking did not send out any invitations until it had already taken place, in hopes that in the future, a time traveler would somehow find it and use a worm hole to attend. The invitations included the exact coordinates in time and space of the party. Unfortunately, no time travelers were in attendance, but nevertheless, Hawking continued with his studies, so that one day he can meet a future time traveler face-to-face.
